A powerful new chapter in Indian cinema and entertainment has been unveiled today, October 24th, 2025, as Mukta Arts celebrates its 47th anniversary of cinematic excellence and the 20th year of its educational arm, Whistling Woods International (WWI). Marking this monumental occasion, Subhash Ghai, Chairman of Mukta Arts and WWI, proudly announced the grand opening of a major new business wing in Mumbai: SGM Animation Studio. 

This state-of-the-art studio is positioned to be a pioneer in the entertainment industry, with a core focus on creating engaging and innovative AI Animation Stories. The launch is the culmination of a year of strategic work by Ghai and his dedicated business team, designed to leverage the immense content legacy of Mukta Arts, which includes an archive of 44 blockbuster films and 500 short films, establishing a rich source of Intellectual Properties (IPs) for the new studio.

Subhash Ghai said, "I started telling stories on the big screen since 1975 with Kalicharan and started story with musical motion picture like karz since 1978. Thereafter, most of our films made many blockbusters and started audio video studio with taal in 2000. 

Then I Went for corporatisation with public sector to set up a world class Whistling Woods International and groomed 3000 students on various sectors of filmmaking till date."

He further added, "Now I see a great future of Indian storytelling in animation and gaming for my students. We did our research work. So we are setting up SGM animation and gaming studio for small and big screen with great new stories coming from mukta archive. My heartiest thanks to Rahul Puri and Chaitanya Chichlikara for supporting this new venture internationally with a deeper vision."

SGM Animation Studio is uniquely equipped to merge traditional artistry with next-generation technology. A key strength of the studio is its talent pool, drawing on over 300 animation graduates already working in the industry, many of whom are alumni of Whistling Woods International. These professionals will be working with the latest technology of AI and other modern tools to bring a fresh perspective to storytelling.
