Historic Moment, The Blue Origin Crew, Including Katy Perry, Safely Return to Earth After Successful Space Flight!

The Blue Origin rocket carrying pop superstar Katy Perry safely returns. It was an all-female crew. It was carrying six women, including Katy, journalist Gayle King, and Jeff Bezos’s fiancée, Lauren Sanchez.

The all-female crew also included former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights advocate Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.

They made their safe return on Monday morning on a rocket belonging to Jeff Bezos, the Amazon co-founder and commercial space flight entrepreneur.

The Blue Origin rocket was launched from West Texas, making it the company’s 11th flight for the New Shepard program, which has flown 52 people, including repeat astronauts, to the Kármán line.

It was launched at approx. 8:30am (local time) and lasted around 10 minutes. The mission was fully automated, and it took the crew more past the Karman line, which is 100km above Earth and also known as the boundary of space.

The beauty is that it is the first all-woman space mission since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo flight in 1963.

Perry, holding a daisy, kissed the ground, with King saying that it was the "highest high.” In a post-flight interview, Sánchez said, “The Earth was so quiet but also really alive. We are all in this together, and some are connected. It makes me just want to hug everybody.”

“I had to come back,” Sánchez said emotionally. “I wanted to come back. I’m getting married.”

“It’s about surrender to the unknown, it’s trust, and this whole journey is about more than going to space,” Perry remarked. It’s up there with meditation.

She added, “What you’re doing is really finding the love for yourself. I’m really feeling that divine feminine right now.”
